CLUB PRESIDENT CLIFF AUSTEN RECEIVES AN OAM

Australia Day 26th January 2019 – Awards

Club President, Cliff Austen, was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM).

This OAM was for his services over many years to Shooting Sports. The award came as a complete surprise to Cliff. He felt embarrassed and very humble on receiving such an honour.

Not only has Cliff been active in Nowra Rifle Club for the past 28 years but he sought to make a difference for all shooters as:

  • President Nowra Rifle Club Inc.
  • President NSW Shooting Association
  • President March Rifle and Long Range F Class Association.
  • Vice Chairman Match Rifle Association of Australia.
  • Vice President F/TR in NSW F Class Association.
  • Director The Australian Target Shooters Club.
  • Past Councillor NSW Rifle Association (8 years).
  • Past Secretary Illawarra District Rifle Clubs Association (15 years).
  • Member of the Firearms And Licensing Communications Online Network
    (FALCON) with Firearms Registry.
  • Member of the Clubs and Ranges group reviewing Firearms Legislation and
    Regulations.
  • Commonwealth Games. Shooting Representative
  • Olympic Games. Shooting Representative.

Cliff sees this award as an award to all shooters. In particular, to those of
Nowra Rifle Club and a strong and dedicated committee he has worked with
over the years.
